Kampala: K1 visas issued

Nonimmigrant visa: Fiancé(e) of U. S. citizen

Visa services paused at this embassy

This embassy has stopped all visa services, including immigrant visas, because of an Ebola outbreak. You cannot get an appointment here for now.

Details

Since May 18, 2026, the U.S. Embassies in Juba, Kinshasa and Kampala have paused all visa services, including immigrant visas, because of the Ebola outbreak. No appointments can be scheduled. The State Department says it will update its website when scheduling starts again.

Interview scheduling at Kampala

The State Department’s list of embassies and consulates for immigrant visas sends immigrant visa applicants from Uganda to Nairobi, not to Kampala. But a State Department notice of July 15, 2026 names Kampala as a regional visa hub. Check the embassy’s own website, listed at usembassy.gov.

The State Department publishes no interview-scheduling data for fiancé(e) visas.

Kampala issued no K1 visas in the two years to February 2026. The last month it issued any was November 2023.

This counts visas issued, which shows how busy the post is, not how long you will wait. The State Department data here ends in February 2026, so it cannot show what has changed since then, such as pauses that started or ended later.
