Since May 18, 2026, the U.S. Embassies in Juba, Kinshasa and Kampala have paused all visa services, including immigrant visas, because of the Ebola outbreak. No appointments can be scheduled. The State Department says it will update its website when scheduling starts again.

From Mar 2025 to Feb 2026, Kampala issued 237 J1 visas, about 20 a month, down 22% from the 12 months before.
