Chennai: H4 visas issued

Nonimmigrant visa: Spouse or child of temporary worker (such as H1B)

From Mar 2025 to Feb 2026, Chennai issued 48,103 H4 visas, about 4,009 a month, down 33% from the 12 months before. But it issued only 908 in January and February 2026, against about 4,720 a month from March to December 2025.

This counts visas issued, which shows how busy the post is, not how long you will wait. The State Department data here ends in February 2026, so it cannot show what has changed since then, such as pauses that started or ended later.
